Spa treatments in Baden are permitted to be administered
only if prescribed by a spa physican practicing in Baden.
Set among meadows, forests and vineyards on the
edge of the thermal Alps, Kurhaus Baden has long been recognised as the
ideal spa to come for a relaxing, healthful stay. The fine air quality
of Baden, coupled with the natural healing powers of the sulphuric water,
are gentle and cost effective methods of treatment. They represent a natural,
sustainable way of maintaining personal health and the effects of rehabilitation.
Therapeutic treatment in Baden:
Therapeutic treatments in Baden are based on the water from the 14 sulfur
springs, bubbling out of the ground at temperatures between 30 and 36°C
(approximately 108 degrees Fahrenheit) at a rate of nearly 4 million litres
a day. The hot sulfur springs have been famous since Roman times and are
the basis of the "Baden cure". Age old therapies like sulfur
baths, mud packs, massages, water therapy and gymnastics provide recreation,
relaxation and regeneration for everyone. Modern therapies on everything
from nutrition to fitness to autogenic training and meditation also help
guests restore and maintain their health. Sulfur therapy is one of the
newly discovered, yet in fact ancient, therapies that have been returned
here to the place of honor they deserve.
Sulfur is proven healing agent in rehabilitation treatments following
athletic injuries or accidents, after orthopedic operations and in preventive
treatments.
The duration of a bath is usually between 20 and 30 minutes. If you take
a sulfur bath for the first time, you should begin slowly.

Ten minutes might suffice. Actually, we offer you a ten-minute test
bath for free. After taking the sulfur bath you should not take a shower,
so as to allow the sulfur to be absorbed through the skin. If you feel
the need to, we recommend that you take a shower before entering the sulfur
bath.
Drinking or inhaling often complements the external application of the
sulfur water. This enhances the desired effect, particularly in the case
of metabolic disorders, diseases of the gastro-intestinal tract and the
respiratory tract.
The sulphuric water from the hot springs is absorbed through the skin
and mucous membranes. Once inside the body, it intervenes in various metabolic
processes, unleashing a healing effect. The sulphuric water from the hot
springs contains calcium, sodium, magnesium, sulfate and chloride.
Various treatments:
The Kurhaus in Baden offers sulfur baths in the pool or in the tub.
Additionally, hot mudpacks are available, consisting of mud from the
area soaked in sulfur water for 24 hours. The mud is heated to approximately
48 degrees centigrade and is locally applied for the duration of 20 minutes.
Another Baden speciality is underwater therapy with water jet massage.
The advantage of this approach is that movement is easier in water and
the healing massages are twice as effective.
